SME’s and sole traders in the East of England have been reaping the rewards of a region wide initiative which can provide up to 70% of the cost of training courses (including those run by NEF) through the “Beyond 2010” project.
Managed by Essex County Council and funded by the European Social Fund, “Beyond 2010” has so far awarded grants totalling £120,000 and there is still a £140,000 remaining. The initiative supports training in 10 key sectors of the economy, including Low Carbon and Sustainable Technologies. Eligible businesses for training grants include those making low carbon or sustainable products, those operating in an energy efficient manner and those for whom the training will help to improve energy efficiency. With a maximum grant of up to £2,500, Beyond 2010 aims to help companies develop the skills of their workforce even in today’s tough economic climate.
Sandra Hayes, NEF Training Manager says, “Beyond 2010 provides companies with an added incentive to invest in sustainable energy training. We are already experiencing an increased number of enquiries about our sustainable energy training courses, especially for our bespoke and modular programmes.”
